Mini Meltdown

I first heard the word 'meltdown' in Ice Age 2, and then Julie and Julia (which was a great movie - I snacked a lot throughout). It was a fine time for me to have one myself, the last day of the year...it felt like being stabbed in a gunshot wound; everything was crumbling around me. Must have been the stress and all. Thankfully, it was mostly unnecessary, and a big part was due to my misreading, my emo-ness after what another person said, and someone's horrible timing!! =P The person who ate the chilli...can you taste the spiciness?! As I realised, two swollen eyes and a few hours later, that things are not always as bad as they seem, as for many things in life, God will never leave us, and right now, it feels like the desert after a horrendous downpour of rain. I see things differently now, and I am actually excited for the new year ;) Exhausted, but excited =)

Oh, and I watched the 1959 Anne Frank movie, courtesy of Calvin Lee. It was really good, despite having read the book over and over again. It was the diary of this 14 year old girl and her family and some other strangers, who spent 2 years hiding out in a loft in the centre of war, before they were caught. I was on my tenterhooks the whole way through, worrying when the people would come to catch them. It was a really artistic and tasteful movie. Some quotes from her diary:

"
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be."

"Laziness may appear attractive, but work gives satisfaction. "

"It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart."

It's all very well to write that you believe that people are really good at heart when all is going well...but still believing that in the middle of a war - now that is awesome.

Thanks to everyone who's been my friend and family...love you all, and happy new year!

Ketikaku percaya
Mujizat itu nyata
Bukan karna kekuatan
Namun rohMu ya tuhan
Ketika ku berdoa mujizat itu nyata

Mujizat itu, dekat di mulutku
Dan ku hidup oleh percaya...

Doa. Jawapan untuk segalanya.

Snowstorm!!

My blog titles are starting to sound like weather reports =P Today was Gavin's birthday, so he invited some of us to his celebration at Pre Carvery, near St. Albans. Selina fetched us there with her GPS..which led us past this creeeepy dark haunted looking house called St. Michael's Lodge, down these narrow dark paths which looked like they led to nothing, and finally reaching this darkkkk house =P Famous Five, Secret Seven...all those stories flashed into my mind.Selina calling Big Brother Abel for help =)

Big Brother Abel to the rescue!GPS 'sot'...so we had to u-turn...then we went to Redbourn's High Street (the shops looked beautiful, but Selina's GPS fooled us AGAIN so we had to u-turn again...haha), and then finally we found the tiny turning we (and the GPS) missed...praise God!

The Carvery dinner was great! Had a great time with each other, and Gavin was still slightly perky woozy due to his sleepless nights rushing his assignments. The food was good, we had turkey, beef and gammon (pork preserved by sugar, salt and pepper) with lots of veges. Mmm...Caryn happy after playing with snow =P
After the dinner, we played in the snow for a while and the car got stuck going up the slippery snow covered slope...Selina's cute Mini Cooper was doing the best it could..but the tires were jumping and slipping on the slope...I remembered all dad's horror stories about driving in the snow...Abel and Daniel were trying to help push. Daniel nearly got knocked down in the process, when he slipped and Selina's car went backwards down suddenly. Yikes...

The scenery on the road was so pretty...it felt surreal...
Hillary, Caryn and Selina started singing carols in the car...I croaked along =) As Caryn said..."It's starting to sink in that I'm really in UK!" The walk back to our houses after we got down from the car was seriously cold...the snow was like a few inches deep...My friend Panna was in her FLATS. And wearing only a thin jumper...I was really worried she'd freeze on the spot...thankfully we all made it back safe and sound...

Oh...and I got this early Christmas present from Liz!! =) I love it..I think the snow is making me excited ^^ It's even making WS excited...he offered to cook 'Christmas Dinner' this sunday, complete with roast chicken and salmon - he even made us have gift exchange! Lili and I wanted to ask him if something had knocked him on the head because it was so unlike him =P but we decided to do that after we'd eaten his cooking...don't want to be poisoned or something. The last picture is of the heavy snowing...Li Li's still at the library, doing her essay probably...I wonder how she's going to come back in this weather =S I should probably get back to my essay too instead of gaping at the snow...

No Snow

...but instead, there was ice rain. It's freezing out there...Wish I didn't have to walk out later for tutorials and class. At least the dark clouds are gone =) And...it's our last class before the 3 week 'break'! I'm nearing the end of my essay, it's both a happy feeling and a sad one...I loved it like my little baby =P

Snow!

We were in class..when suddenly someone pointed to the window..."Hey! It's snowing!!"
And the weather forecast was proven accurate..early snow indeed..despite our sceptism a few days ago =D When I got out of class, it was as if the entire landscape had changed!Lili: Oh...so sad...the flowers will be covered after a while...[patting flowers]
Then she smacked the flowers...obviously startled by her sudden display of compassion in front of me =P

Looks like there's a chance we'll have a white Christmas after all... =)

*Just back from class...wow. There was a huge 'heated discussion' between my lecturer and two students...my poor lecturer...already in the morning got 'shot' one time by us one by one...(As she said to someone who walked in..."I'm getting evaluated today") and now this. Aiks...it's not easy being a teacher...
